The Last Wolf is a finalist for Best First Book and Paranormal Romance, Bad Bachelor for Contemporary Romance: Long, and Bellewether for Mainstream Fiction with a Central Romance. The RITA is recognized as the highest award of distinction in romance fiction. Up to 2,000 novels are entered annually in over thirteen different categories. Illegal appears in the “Graphic Novels: Grades 6-9” category. The Black-Eyed Susan Book Award is a children’s choice award for the state of Maryland. The award seeks to promote literacy and lifelong reading habits by encouraging students to read quality, contemporary literature. The nominated books are expected to be outstanding books that broaden the human experience and provide students with new insights into their own lives. Mister Tender’s Girl is a finalist in the Thriller category, and The Doggie in the Window is a finalist in the Nonfiction category. The Colorado Book Awards are sponsored by Colorado Humanities and Colorado Center for the Book. They recognize books that are written by Colorado authors/residents, and “and authors whose personal history, identity, and literary work reflect a strong Colorado influence.” The awards consist of at least ten categories including anthology/collection, children’s literature, creative nonfiction, general fiction, general nonfiction, genre fiction, history, pictorial, poetry, and young adult literature. The In The Margins Book Award is organized by the Library Services for Youth in Custody group, which is an organization that advocates for those who provide services for youth in custody. The In the Margins Book Award Recommended Fiction Book List is chosen by a committee of librarians who work with marginalized youth who choose title that are of high-interest appeal to youth ages 9—21 living in poverty, on the streets, or in custody.
