We are excited to share that Put Me in the Story was featured on Good Morning America today in their Deals and Steals holiday edition! Click "Read More" below to learn more about Put Me in the Story. Check it out: Put Me In The Story, our personalized books site, was featured in the Chicago Tribune’s Printers Row Journal this week! We were so excited to talk about the things happening with Put Me In The Story and share more about all the fun we’re having reimagining bedtime! Chicago Tribune lifestyles reporter Nara Schoenberg sat down with some of our Put Me In The Story team to talk about the creative opportunities and challenges that arise when creating personalized books with well-known brands and authors, including Daniel Handler, a.k.a. Lemony Snicket, who is famous for his books in “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” “Approaching Daniel Handler with a proposal to personalize his intensely ironic Lemony Snicket books might sound a little like sticking your head into the mouth of his Incredibly Deadly Viper. But — fortunately for all involved — Handler was intrigued by the idea adding children's names and photos to his "All the Wrong Questions" books.” We are really so excited about all of the great partners that we get to work with: Handler is the latest addition to an impressive list of creative heavy-hitters who have signed on to produce personalized books with Sourcebooks, a publisher in Naperville that launched its personalized Put Me In the Story division in 2013. Sesame Street and Disney — both the princess powerhouse and the "Star Wars" subsidiary — have partnered with Sourcebooks to produce personalized books, as has Nancy Tillman, author of the best-seller "On the Night You Were Born." We had so much fun chatting with Schoenberg, discussing current and upcoming projects. When talking about working with Star Wars, Publishing Manager Karen Shapiro told Nara that when they asked her if she’d like to have her team come up with original book ideas, “I could put it in caps and bold and that's still not going to scream 'Yes!' loud enough."” Read about what Nara found the most interesting in the full Tribune article below! Her article can also be read on the Chicago Tribune website here: http://www.chicagotribune.com/lifestyles/books/ct-prj-put-me-in-the-story-personalized-childrens-books-20151001-story.html Put Me In The Story, Sourcebooks’ personalized book website, has just reached a HUGE milestone with 100 books available on our site! We’d like to take this moment to say a huge “Thank You!” to everyone who has made our 100 Put Me In The Story books possible… our authors, licensors, editors, and especially, our READERS! Without you, none of these 100 books (and counting!) would have been possible. We are forever grateful! To help celebrate this achievement, we decided to run a fun sweepstakes on our Put Me In The Story Facebook Page. We got a lot of entries, but what we really got was a sense of the impact that our books are having in people’s lives, how they are truly touching people. Here are our top 10 favorite comments we’ve received so far: #1 - For the Kids & Kids at Heart#2 - Keep them coming!#3 - Creating life-long readers#4 - A book starring your child!#5 - #BooksChangeLives#6 - Now you're just making us blush!#7 - Creating book addicts, one personalized book at a time#8 - Special gifts for your little one#9 - Showing us off#10 - We're suckers for cute photos of kidsOkay, so that was a little more than 10… but there were so many awesome comments! Here’s to the next 100!
Here at Sourcebooks, the week has been filled with cheer for so many reasons. Everyone has had the opportunity to get together and spend time celebrating one of the most groundbreaking years in our history!
One of our favorite projects this year is Put Me In The Story. Lots has been accomplished. Last week, we launched the universal version of our Put Me In The Story(R) app, which means our personalized stories can now be read and shared on iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad devices. We're also trying something else new…now you have the ability to record your child’s name to be read aloud with the narration throughout the story. So not only does the text change in the book but when the audio reads back to you, your recording of the child's name will be embedded in the read along (in your voice) along with the rest of the story. This was the enhancement that users most wanted and is another of our experiments. If you try it we'd love to hear what you think. With the Put Me In The Story app, our hope is that kids and parents will connect to books in new ways. The personalized experience enables you to make your child the star of bestselling children’s books by including her name and photo, and now your recording of their name. You can choose from children’s stories like Sesame Street favorite Elmo Loves You! or New York Times bestselling My Name Is Not Isabella. When you download the app, you’ll get Marianne Richmond’s adorable bedtime story, The Night Night Book, for free. And right now, just in time for the holidays, Santa is flying through Put Me In The Story and we've put our Santa is Coming to My House book on sale. We built the Put Me In The Story app to enhance the experience of sharing books with children. It's been an amazing learning experience throughout this year as we've built new features and worked with new partners. We know there's lots more to do, but our goal is to create a great experience that will help to create and support a lifelong love of reading. It's been an incredible year! Thank you for your help and thoughtfulness. I look forward to more ways for us to share books with children together! FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHICAGO – January 15, 2013—Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, and Sourcebooks, a leading independent publisher and developer, announce the forthcoming addition of two Sesame Street books to Put Me In The Story, the innovative, personalized children’s book iPad app and website launched by Sourcebooks in November. The beloved classic Elmo Loves You will be the first Sesame Street book to launch on the platform. Put Me In The Story, as seen in the New York Times and Christian Science Monitor, takes nationally bestselling children’s picture books by celebrated and award-winning authors, and integrates personalization—creating personalized books that make your child the star of treasured children’s stories. Elmo Loves You is one of Sesame Workshop’s bestselling children’s books, and is being made available for the first time in personalized form. “We are always looking for meaningful ways to enhance parent-child engagement in the digital arena, so we are especially excited to partner with Sourcebooks to create our first personalized storybooks on an app platform. Put Me In The Story increases a child’s engagement and enjoyment by bringing children directly into the story, where they are part of the narrative alongside their favorite Sesame Street characters,” said Jennifer A. Perry, Vice President, Worldwide Publishing, Sesame Workshop. “We built Put Me In The Story to create greater bonding through and with books, and to change how kids grow with books. Sesame Workshop’s mission of using the educational power of media to help children everywhere reach their highest potential is completely aligned with what we’re aiming to accomplish with Put Me In The Story,” says Dominique Raccah, CEO and publisher of Sourcebooks. “We are overjoyed to announce Sesame Workshop as our first publishing partner.” The Put Me In The Story app on the iPad is available on the App Store for free. Elmo Loves You will be available in February as an in-app purchase for $4.99. Custom print book orders will be available at www.putmeinthestory.com, and are priced at $32.99.
