What is your book about? Please provide a description.
I Love You More is a book about love presented as a children's book. It is a picture book but its message is certainly meant for loved ones of all ages. It is a "flip-sided" book meaning it starts from both sides and reads to the middle-like love it never actually ends and it represents the two sides of love-the giving and receiving. It is a story of love shared between a mother and child. On one side a mother responds to a child's question "Just how much do you love me?" And on the other side a child responds when the mother asks the same question. She says..."I love you mightier that the mightiest wind ever blew. I love you fuller than the fullest moon you ever knew." He says..."I love you louder than the loudest rocketship ever blasted. I love you longer than the longest lollipop ever lasted."
How long have you been at work on this book?
The idea for ILYM was birthed in November of 1998. I was traveling with some friends to the opening of a nightclub in Hartford, CT. My sister called to say that she and her husband had gotten in a big fight and he had left. She had one young child, my nephew Tyler and another on the way. I felt helpless being away and found myself praying. As I did something clearly answered me, it said "Your sister is fine, pray for your nephew." It was an odd experience but I did as I was told and as I began to pray the whole idea for ILYM flooded my being! It was definitely the experience of Divine Inspiration-energy, white light, etc. I got up and wrote the ideas down and that was the beginning of I Love You More. I share that being a children's author picked me! It was a bit of a transition from bartender to self-publsihed author but under my company I Shine Inc we sold 179,000 copies and then in 2007 teamed up with Sourcebooks! It's been and continues to be an amazing journey!
How did the idea originate?
see above :-) Oh...people always ask if my nephew is okay! He is! He's now 15 and driving-yikes! I can only imagine that I wanted him to know that no matter what was going on in his immediate world and the world around him that he was/is loved! I think this is a message that children all over the world benefit from.
Did the book entail any unusual writing habits or places?
Yes...and once the initial idea came through that night and was scribbled down on hotel stationary then it seems that I do my best writing on yellow legal pads with blue pen! That's how I've written my next book too.
