EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR WRITERS AND READERS!
In September 2013, Wattpad, the world’s largest online community for discovering and sharing stories, and Sourcebooks, a leading independent book publisher, announced a partnership to create new opportunities for YA Fiction writers.
Three years into the partnership, the collaboration and program exceeded expectations, and led the parternship to expand beyond YA to also include romance authors.
The idea is to give aspiring authors another way to connect with Sourcebooks, beyond the traditional submissions process. Now, a writer can just add the tag submit2sourcebooks to their story on Wattpad and editors at Sourcebooks will take a look. It lets writers circumvent the usual process of query letters, and also lets Sourcebooks see how readers are responding to and interacting with the story. We get a sneak peek at how readers will respond to a story, which is really useful data.
