INTERNSHIPS at Sourcebooks

Internships: A 360° View of Book Publishing

Sourcebooks offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to kick-start your career in the book industry with the Ravina Thakkar Internship Experience (learn about Ravina here). As one of the largest, fastest-growing, and most influential independent book publishers in the world, we offer a unique opportunity to launch your career in book publishing.

Sourcebooks publishes a wide variety of authors and titles - you’ll find us in most categories of your local bookshop or library, in addition to national and local bestsellers lists. Putting Midwestern modesty aside, we bring authors to readers with a fast-paced, entrepreneurial zeal that is unmatched in publishing today.

Book publishing is often viewed first through the lens of its vital editorial work, but publishing is also so much more. Through our diverse publishing lines, our interns work on a wide variety of projects across multiple departments. In this immersive environment, our interns receive both an understanding of book publishing and opportunities to learn about the ever-changing book marketplace.

Due to COVID we made the tough decision to cancel our in-person summer internship program for 2020, but we wanted to keep the learning going in our publishing industry.

We will be hosting a webinar series to open an opportunity for individuals in college, faculty members, individuals in a publishing certificate program and more. During the webinar series our goal is to give you the opportunity to:
  • learn the (many) steps of the publishing process,
  • see an overview of the publishing industry,
  • discuss career opportunities in publishing, and
  • get an inside the cover look at Sourcebooks.

The webinar series will happen live in August and each part of the series will be available on-demand after the live date in case you miss it. Live attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and connect with the presenters, so we hope you can join us!

Sign up now to receive notifications when we release the topics and series schedule, get registration reminders, and to get the access information to the webinar series recordings.

The Sourcebooks internship program has begun dozens of successful careers in all parts of book publishing – including many at Sourcebooks. Yours might be next!
