The Will Rogers Medallion Award was named after writer and cowboy entertainer Will Rogers, whose work reflected the traditions and values of the American cowboy. The Will Rogers Medallion award recognizes quality works that exemplify excellent content and production, and honors the Western heritage of the cowboy.
 
Gold Dust is a finalist in the Western Fiction category, and A Dying Note in the Western Maverick category.

About Gold Dust:

As the 1960s draw to a close, the rural northeast Texas community of Center Springs is visited by two nondescript government men in dark suits and shades. They say their assignment is to test weather currents and patterns, but that's a lie. Their delivery of a mysterious microscopic payload called Gold Dust from a hired crop duster coincides with fourteen-year-old Pepper Parker's discovery of an ancient gold coin in her dad's possession. About A Dying Note:

It's autumn of 1881, and Inez Stannert, still the co-owner of Leadville, Colorado's Silver Queen saloon, is settled in San Francisco with her young ward, Antonia Gizzi. Inez has turned her business talents to managing a music store, hoping to eventually become an equal partner in the enterprise with the store's owner, a celebrated local violinist.
