Sourcebooks has five titles on Bank Street's Best Children's Books of the Year

We are thrilled to share that Sourcebooks has five titles that have been named 2019 Best Children’s Books of the Year.

The Bank Street Best Children’s Books of the Year are lists of titles for librarians, educators, parents, and other adults chosen by the Children’s Book Committee at the Bank Street College of Education. 600 titles are chosen each year by reviewers who look for literary quality, excellence in presentation, and the potential emotion impact of the books on young readers. The reviewers also consider plot, characterization, absence of stereotypes, and more.

The SEE-IT Award is sponsored by EBSCO and the CBC Graphic Novel committee, and is awarded annually to youth graphic novels of high literary quality.

We are happy to share that Shark Lady by Jess Keating, illustrated by Marta Alvarez Miguens, is on the 2019-2020 Beverly Cleary Children’s Choice Award master list!

The Beverly Cleary Children's Choice Award (BCCCA) is sponsored by the Oregon Association of School Libraries. It is named after the Oregon-born author Beverly Clearly, who wrote books for 2nd or 3rd graders or transitional readers. The BCCA committee meets annually to read nominated titles, and choose titles they believe are good quality literature, and take into account text, format and illustrations. Children of all ages vote in the spring for their favorite title off of the list of nominated books.

We are happy to share that Shark Lady by Jess Keating, illustrated by Marta Alvarez Miguens, is a 2019–2020 Kentucky Bluegrass Award nominee!

The Kentucky Bluegrass award is a student-choice reading program sponsored by the Kentucky Association of School Librarians. The goal of the five selected reading lists is to promote quality literature and recreational reading among PreK-12th grade students. Each reading list includes five books that students read and vote for their favorite. Shark Lady appears on the K-2 Master List.

We are thrilled to share that Shark Lady by Jess Keating, illus. by Marta Alvarez Miguens, is the winner of the 2019 Chickadee Award.

The Chickadee Award is sponsored by the Maine Association of School Libraries. The award is for titles published for children in kindergarten through fourth grade. A committee of librarians, teachers, and early literacy professionals select a list of titles every year that exemplify outstanding illustration and writing.This year over 19,000 voters participated, and around 3,500 voted for Shark Lady.
