Sprig Muslin: Sir Gareth Ludlow is just about ready to settle for marriage with Lady Hester, a plain woman who falls below his standards—according to his sister. Despite her protests, however, Gareth sets out to propose marriage. Along the way, he encounters young Amanda wandering unattended. Honor-bound to restore her to her family, the gallant Sir Ludlow finds he has more than he bargained for with his young charge and her runaway imagination.
Sprig Muslin 1:

Sprig Muslin 2:

The Toll Gate: Captain John Staple is bored by the constraints of civilian life. To shake things up, he takes an invigorating ride across the countryside. A storm forces him to take shelter at a toll-gate where the gatekeeper has mysteriously disappeared. The Captain stumbles into an adventure more thrilling than his days battling Napoleon. While searching for the missing gatekeeper, he inadvertently uncovers a smuggling operation, and his only recourse is to bring the villains to justice and rescue the enigmatically charming young Lady Nell from her unsavory relatives.
The Toll Gate 1

The Toll Gate 2

The Unknown Ajax: When a Yorkshire cousin becomes heir to the noble Darracott name and fortune, he pretends to be the country bumpkin they’re all expecting. Then a family crisis thrusts Hugo into the role of an unlikely savior, and the family farce begins to unravel. But not before Hugo establishes himself as the undisputed head of the family, and his beautiful cousin Anthea discovers she’s met her match.
The Unknown Ajax 1

The Unknown Ajax 2

A Civil Contract: Adam Deveril, Viscount Lynton, returns home from war to find his family in financial ruin. To help his family, he sacrifices his love for the beautiful Julia and marries plain Jenny Chawleigh, whose father is a wealthy businessman determined to marry his daughter into a title. Adam chafes under Mr. Chawleigh’s generosity, and Julia’s behavior upon hearing of the betrothal nearly brings them all into a scandal. But Jenny’s practicality and quiet love for Adam bring him comfort and eventually happiness. And over time, their arranged marriage blossoms into love and acceptance across the class divide.

The Unknown Ajax 1
A Civil Contract 1
Toll Gate #1 (I really don't like either cover option, I would rather have the cover art for A Civil Contract #2 for this book because the man on the cover looks more like a Napoleonic-era captain).
The Unknown Ajax #1 (In truth, I am not a fan of either of these cover options, both of these covers are on the dark and gloomy side. I would much rather see Sprig Muslin cover #2 here, which is infinitely more vibrant and engaging).
A Civil Contract #1.
Sprig Muslin 1 (I like the colors in the first, but I think the outfit in the second is more of the reason not to go with it)
The Toll Gate 1 (this one was the toss up of the four... in the end, I guess because the first one is outside versus not in the other)
The Unknown Ajax 2 (here, the second with the more people looks friendlier, if that makes sense)
A Civil Contract 2 (it's outside, lighter, stuff like that)
Lois
Toll Gate: #1, please! (#2 hero is too ugly to live)
The Unknown Ajax: no preference
A Civil Contract: no preference
But for "A Civil Contract" I would go with #1
and for "The Unknown Ajax" #2
The rest really just don't appeal to me in the slightest

Very true to Georgette Heyer's time. Really have to kick start reading her since I bought 2 books this summer. Moving her to top of read list.
I like #2 for all the rest; they seem to match the theme of the story best. Yay for more Georgette Heyer :)
Toll Gate#1 - there's a toll gate and the hero and heroine.
Unknown Ajax #2 - has the family there, who think they're too good for him
Civil Contract #1 - I like her reading the letter - makes me think of a contract.

The Toll Gate: #1 The guy looks too old in the other one!
The Unknown Ajax: #2
A Civil Contract: #1 I want to know what she’s reading!

Mostly because those all appeal to me and fit the other covers so well.

it looks like a beautiful old painting and I love the pastel flowers at the bottom of the cover. I do think the heroine's sitting posture is a bit odd, like she's leaning forward for no apparent reason.
I don't like the second cover because I don't like the heroine's face or the black-and-while jailbird dress she's got on; her head looks abnormally large.
I like The Toll Gate #1 because I prefer that background over the second choice. I like too how the heroine is sitting and knitting outside with the hero watching.
I don't like #2 because the hero looks too old and I don't like the color of his coat mixed with the blue strip across the cover with the title written on it. I don't like the color combination combined with her plain white dress.
The Unknown Ajax, I don't like #1 at all. Too masculine and looks like a history book about the judicial system.
I prefer #2 because it's got a mixture of men and women on it but I feel the women's dresses need to be much more colorful and the top half of the cover needs to be lightened up some.
I like A Civil Contract #1. I like the dark upper background combined with a lighter, more colorful bottom half of the cover. I like the basket of strawberries that are on the bottom right of the cover. That was a cute, feminine touch.
I don't like cover #2 because it's much too pale and the girls book like they're 13 years old and a creepy older man is trying to talk to them.
Thanks for letting me put in my two cents!
Here are my preferences:
Sprig Muslin #1-based on the description of her being on her own, this one seems to fit and be intriguing at the same time...and I just don't like the girl in #2.
Toll Gate #1: more because the guy in the second one looks old enough to be her father not the hero, ewww.
The Unknown Ajax #2: I actually like the guy in #1 but being just the man makes me think it is a biography not a romance, and since the story involves a family #2 might be a better choice.
A Civil Contract #1: definitely #1. I like that she seems lonely and since this starts out as an arrangement it seems fitting. I think her "quiet love" is better reflected in #1. #2 just looks like a couple courting...and that's not really what this story is about.
Toll Gate: #1 hands down. I just don't quite like the guy in #2
The Unknown Ajax: #2
A Civil Contract was difficult, I actually really like both covers but I think #1 pulls me in more just because of how private it looks.
Thank you!!!!
Toll Gate--Definitely #1
Unknown Ajax--#1
A Civil Contract--#1
Toll Gate -- 1
Unknown Ajax -- 2
Civil Contract -- 1
I think each of these seems to go more with the book blurb than the alternate choice.
The Toll Gate: I like both, but if I had to pick one, I'd say #1 I guess. But they're both nice.
The Unknown Ajax: Definitely #1. Number 2 is okay, but #1 is just stunning.
A Civil Contract: Both are fine, but if I'd have to pick one, I'd say #2. It's lighter and has a nicer feel about it.
Thanks so much for issuing these titles. Georgette Heyer is a new author for me, and it's nice to see that her work is getting classier covers than in years past.
Looking forward to your final product!

Toll Gate 1 (I liked the outdoor scene rather than the indoor)
The Unknown Ajax 2 (There is so much more to look at!
A Civil Contract 1 (This was the hardest decision! Both are beautiful! I like the richness of color in number one)
Can't wait for their release!
The Toll Gate - Cover #1
The Unknown Ajax - Cover #2
A Civil Contract - Cover 1
Each one of these covers seems to be more mysterious and romantic.

Thoughts in Progress
Spring Muslin 2 (Very original with the full face portrait- very pretty)
The Toll Gate 1 (Love these two together)
The Unknown Ajax 1 (He is to die for!)
a Civil Contract 1 (gorgeous colors and background)
Can't wait to see what will get picked:)
Lucy
Toll Gate #2 (I like the outdoor background in 1 but love the dog in 2,maybe you could combine them?)
The Unknown Ajax #2 (guys in 1 looks creepy)
A Civil Contract #1
s one exception: I COULD go with cover #2 for The Unknown Ajax , since I do like the composition, as well as the colors. However, cover #1 seems to go better with the title.
So I definitely prefer ALL the number #1 covers! Hope they are chosen!!
Maria @ twilightandotherdreams.blogspot.com/
Toll Gate #1 (in #2, the hero is far too aged)
Unknown Ajax #1 (#2 is too busy, where's the hero?)
Civil Contract #1 (two women in #2 is distracting)
The Toll Gate - Cover #1...#2 is laughable in bad ways all.
The Unknown Ajax - Cover #2 the story lends itself to many more characters than one and this represents that. The first also represents a man much older and more grim that the character seems from the description.
A Civil Contract - Cover 1. The second brings to mind young girls and handsome roguish officers....not the more sensible characters described.
The Toll Gate #1 is my pick. On 2 the couples expressions are far from loving. The wife kind of look perplexed.
The Unknown Ajax #2 is my pick because in 1 the guys is scarry in all black.
A Civil Contract that one is tough I like the colors of them both and the pictures but I think the first one is more striking and will draw more attention.
Thank you for letting us in on the vote either way they are all pretty because Georgette wrote them.

Civil Contract #1 I actually like #2 better overall but don't find the man attractive.
I look forward to all four of these books. How about a great e-book offer like you had with the mysteries? I already own all her books (although I'm collecting your nicer editions, too) and am working on my Kindle collection now, so I can take all of them everywhere with me!!
I'm waiting now for you to do Elizabeth Goudge and Rumer Godden...and how about Arthur Ransome?? So many books, so little time.
The Toll Gate #1
The Unknown Ajax #2
A Civil Contract #1
I feel like I could just cut and paste, but they are good!
Toll Gate,I pick #1 again. I think the guy is discussing the disappearance of the toll gate man with the young lady. I can easily see her turning around to talk about her troublesome relatives.
The Unknown Ajax, again #1 is the one I have chosen. It shows what a rich young man looked like at that time. This way I can compare his pretended country ways to the real have it all guy.
A Civil Contract #2 We need the guy to be on the cover.
The Toll Gate 1
The Unknown Ajax 2
A Civil Contract 1
The Toll Gate 1 (2 man too old)
The Unknown Ajax 2 (prefer ensemble cast; man in 1 not in period clothing)
A Civil Contract 2 (perfect with 2 females and one soldier)
Kay
Toll Gate #1 (#2 hero really, really ugly!)
Unknown Ajax #2 (actually not too keen on either of these choices)
Civil Contract #1
Looks like fun!
Toll Gate: No. 1, the man on cover 2 looks too old
Unknown Ajax: No. 2, I like to have a woman on the cover
Civil Contract: I like both covers but lean slightly toward no. 1 because it seems to reflect Jenny's quiet character
The Toll Gate #2 - the gentleman in the second picture is too old and ugly.
The Unknown Ajax #1 - I agree, it's rather forbidding looking, but due to the nature of the story I thought it was more appropriate than #2.
A Civil Contract #1.
Is it possible to change the color of the stripe across the front of the book? Sprig Muslin #1 (I think) would look nicer with a stripe the same as the color of the stripe on #2.
Toll Gate #1
Unknown Ajax #2

The Tollgate - Cover#1 but would relly like to have seen a picture showing a toll gate
The Unknown Ajax - Cover#2 - first one completely wrong era.
A Civil Contract Cover#1
Toll Gate: It's a toss up, but I go with #2 since in the book summary I see the hero being a little older.
The Unknown Ajax: #2, its a family drama and the group shot highlights that.
A Civil Contract: #2, again this image fits the time period better, and the hero does have to pick between two women.

The Toll Gate : #1 just more appealing thsn #2

sprig muslin 1: because the dress looks like muslin
Toll Gate 2: Reminds me of the heroine and her grandfather but also of the Captain who dresses casually. The couple in this story would never be sitting in a rose arbor.
Aja 1: perfect depiction of what a family expects their heirs to look like. Not 2 because this friendliness is not in keeping with the story.
Contract 1: Because it looks like she's holding a contract.
I think having some covers that are strong like Toll Gate 2 and Ajax 1 will help some of these titles stand out and not just seem like more of the same.
Toll-Gate: # 1
The Unknown Ajax: # 2 (1 fits the plot better, but doesn't draw you in if you don't know the plot)
A Civil Contract # 1
Thanks for asking our input. I can't wait until these are released!
The Toll Gate 1
The Unknown Ajax 2
A Civil Contract 2
Toll Gate 2 - like the painting of No 1 but I think that No 2 suits the book more.
Unknown Ajax 1 - nice focus on the hero, No 2 is too busy and distant.
A Civil Contract 2 - beautiful picture, correct period actually looks like it could be characters from the book.
Toll 1
Ajax 2
Civil 2
It would be nice to have a redhead on the cover of one.
Those awful stripes on #2 make her look like a Regency prisoner!
Toll Gate #2
Unknown Ajax #2 - it's an ensemble book
A Civil Contract #2
Toll Gate #1
Unknown Ajax # 2
Civil Contract #2
None of then for Tollgate...don;t represent it enough
#2 Unknown Ajax, almost like a scene from the book
#1 Civil Contract.
Tollgate = Don't like either cover as I don't think they represent the characters or story very well.
Unknown Ajax = 2. Seems to fit the family feel of the novel
Civil Contract = 1. Best suits the characters and story although cover two is lighter and attractive
1 - The Toll Gate
2 - The Unknown Ajax
1 - A Civil Contract
The Toll Gate - #1
The Unknown Ajax - #2
A Civil Contract - #2 (#1 is in the completely wrong era - this dress looks to be from the late 1800s. While the mood evoked is appropriate for the story, the cover dress allows for a completely different setting)
Toll-Gate #1
Unknown Ajax #1
A Civil Contract #1
The first seems more elegant, and the second, with the huge portrait, is very unlike all of the other covers
The Toll Gate - 2
The leading lovers are very strong, countrified characters, which is embodied much better by the second cover. The people in the first seem mawkish.
The Unknown Ajax - 1
Cover one matches the title really nicely. Seems a little mysterious.
A Civil Contract - 2
Jenny is plain and demure, like these two ladies, while the Viscount is a dashing young lord. It just works.
The Toll Gate: #1 (guy in the 2nd cover looks way too old and the first cover is so much more attractive!)
The Unknown Ajax: #2
A Civil Contract: #1 (they are both nice, but I really like the elegant, warm look of this one)
I haven't actually read any of these so I am just basing my votes on my impressions of the covers--since I don't know the stories behind them!
The Toll Gate #1 (hero too old in #2)
The Unknown Ajax #2 (creates more interest with the wider scene and #1 hero looks awfully arrogant)
A Civil Contract #1 (interesting scene, the other is a bit blah and the hero looks slightly ridiculous).
#1 Toll Gate
#1 The Unknown Ajax
#1 A Civil Contract
All of the samples were lovely, but the first examples of each rendering were, to my mind, the most elegant ones.
About the Unknown Ajax, did not one of the artists get a description of the hero? Hugo is a large person. Definitely not that weedy poetic guy in the first choice, nor the scrawny short military guy in the second choice.
You need a do over on that one.
Sprig Muslin #1
Toll Gate I dislike both but#1
Unknown Ajax all wrong #1
a Civil Contract #1
I love that you print the books.
The Toll Gate: #1 because the painting is richer looking and better matches the synopsis.
The Unknown Ajax: I don't care for either of them, but #2 is the better of the two.
A Civil Contract: Definitely #1. The dress might not be a historical match, but she fits my idea of Jenny. #2 is too light and frothy for the story.
So the second bookcover in each instance is the obvious best choice.
For Spring Muslin, the second cover choice agrees more with the young Amanda who is the problem of the story.
For The Tollgate, seems that I can recollect a scene in the story that is represented by the second cover choice.
For The Unknown Agax, the second cover choice represents the hero's military career and shows some of the surprise evidenced by the family members as they meet him for the first time.
For A Civil Contract, the second cover choice represents the hero's return from his military career and subsequent meeting with the beautiful Julia who is always determined to be first in fashion and who is frothy and frivilous.
The Toll Gate.....1
The Unknown Ajax.....2
A Civil Contract.....2
Each of the eight covers is attractive but my votes go to those most closely illustrating clothing choices appropriate to the time settings of the novels.
Sprig Muslin I choose cover #2. I think #1 is prettier but it looks too much like Lauren Wilig's covers, specifically The Seduction of the Crimson Rose.
The Toll Gate I choose #2. True the man looks a little long in the tooth, but I feel that he could be a father and not a love interest. It's a more visually interesting cover that #1.
The Unknown Ajax I choose cover #2. The portrait on cover #1 is too unappealing.
A Civil Contract I choose cover #1. Cover #2 looks too Pride and Pejudice and cover #1 has a feeling of independence with that lone woman.

1
Toll Gate - 2 (Looks like the kind of dude who'd be undertaking such an adventure)
Unknown Ajax - 1 (Given it's a title with a specific character named, this seems to fit well)
Civil Contract - 1 (Seems to fit best with the book blurb's content)
Toll Gate -1
Unknown Ajax - 2
Civil Contract -1
Spring Muslim #1
The Toll Gate #1
The Unknown Ajax....the first is horrible. The second is better but not ideal.
A Civil Contract - #1 is more interesting but not Regency so I'm torn.
Toll Gate#2-I take the male as Nell's father, not the hero. I like this better than #1 as Nell _never_ did needlework.
Unknown Ajax#2-I don't see the hero John Staple as the gentleman in #1- he was seen as an Ajax, a really big guy!
Civil Contract#2-This could be a scene from prior to the action of the book, when Adam is convalescing and meets Jennie in company with Julia. The gown in #1 looks Victorian, not Regency.
The Toll Gate: #1
The Unknown Ajax: #2
A Civil Contract: #2 (The first cover is the wrong era.)
The Toll Gate #1
Unknown Ajax #2
A Civil Contract #1
The Toll Gate 1
The Unknown Ajax 2. But the cover should be lightened or brightened up a bit. It's too gloomy for the tone of the book.
A Civil Contract 2.
Sprig Muslin #2 is beautiful and stands out from the rest of my Regency-themed novels. The colors are striking and the painting is beautiful.
Toll Gate #1. #2 looks like "Grandpa Goes a'Hunting".
The Unknown Ajax #1! I enjoy a book featuring a handsome hero.
Civil Contract #1 has, once more, a gorgeous, focused portrait.
Tollgate 1
Unknown Ajax 2
Civil Contract 2
Thank you for taking input from all of us.
Toll Gate #1 (#2 looks like a daughter helping her father dress for the hunt....not very romantic).
Unknown Ajax #1
Civil Contract #1 (because I like the picture better. The hero in picture 2 bugs me).
Sprig Muslin #1
Toll Gate #1 Oh my! It's beautiful!
UnknownAjax#2 I do wish it wasn't
quite so dark, though.
Civil Contract #1 If you would remove that unattractive gentleman from the picture, #2 is a lovely cover. WHO is he?
He can't possibly be Adam Deveril!
Seek the help of a consultant or a historian. I'm not sure if these paintings are even the right period.
Any paintings that feature a close-up of a young woman you should save for titles that are names.
Sprig Muslin: Use the cover of Toll Gate #2.
Toll Gate: Neither cover is appropriate or even hint at the storyline.
Unknown Ajax: #1
A Civil Contract: none

These are the covers that I would chose for these books
For the Toll Gate, again the first. I could think of no scene in the book that was represented by the second cover.
For the Unknown Ajax, the second choice, even though the first made me think of Vincent Darracott.
For a Civil Contract, the second choice. While the first made me think of Jenny, the dress was just too Victorian.
Spring Muslin 2

Sprig Muslin 1:
The Toll Gate 1
The Unknown Ajax 2

Toll Gate #1
Unknown Ajax #1
Civil Contract #2 - I like #2 because I get a little turned off at the idea of her being plain, but in cover #2 it looks like she could just be ordinary nice looking girl (tho I think the talking girl should look more glamorous, and I think the guy looks not cute at all).
The Toll Gate - neither of them. Nell does not sew (that woman is sewing, not knitting. and the archway is not a toll gate), and she does not straighten a man's tie. You need a picture of a woman on a horse, or a woman driving a gig. And about the book description. The heroine is NOT 'Lady Nell.' She is referred to as Miss Nell or Miss Helen Stornaway. Jack does not uncover a smuggling operation; smuggling is specifically ruled out earlier in the book. Besides which, what happened should not be explained, as that is one of the mysteries revealed in the book; the most that should be said is that something sinister is going on. And Nell has only one unsavory relative; the other villain is a friend of her wastrel cousin's.
A Civil Contract - #2. #1 looks like Edith Wharton.
The Toll Gate #1
The Unknown Ajax #2
A Civil Contract #1
I have read and reread each of these books many times and although not ideal, the covers selected above, seem to match the stories the best.
Spring Muslin #1
The Toll Gate #1
The Unknown Ajex #2
A Civil Contract #1
I thought all of the covers were lovely.
The Toll Gate #1 - I've seen the same cover for 2nd cover published of the same title by Arrow Books
The Unknown Ajax #2 - same reason as above
A Civil Contract #2 - the lady in cover 1 is wearing Victorian dress. however I like the pose of her reading a letter
Toll gate-- #1
Unknown ajax--#2
Civil Contract--#1, this picture helps us to be more sympathetic to Jenny's character. Love this one.
The Toll Gate - Cover #1
The Unknown Ajax - Cover #2
A Civil Contract - Cover #1
tolgate 1

contract - both are fine.
#2 the girl looks way too young to even consider leaving home, let alone running away.
Toll Gate #2
the man in #1 is way too dressed up for the captain. the #2 man is way ugly, if they think that's the captain.
Unknown Ajax #1 Superb
Civil Contact #1 Mainly because the #2 man looks very odd. What's with that?
The Toll Gate - don't like either one particularly but vote for the 2nd one, if I must. The first one doesn't look dashing enough for the storyline and the second one makes the captain seem too old.
Unknown Ajax - #2 - It brings in the family aspect better.
Civil Contract - #1 definitely. The second one makes it look like the two girls of the story are close friends.
Sprig Muslin - #1 (Beautiful!)
The Toll Gate - #1
The Unknown Ajax - #2
A Civil Contract - #1 (I really love this one!)
The Toll Gate - 1
The Unknown Ajax - 2
A Civil Contract - 2, because cover 1 is from the wrong period.
Why can't these covers show the correct style of dress for the Regency period, and why are the men depicted so ugly?!
The Toll Gate #1
The Unknown Ajax #2
A Civil Contract #1 -- I like #2 but it doesn't fit the feel of the novel enough for me. While the period clothes in #1 are wrong the mood seems right.
