Fifteen Minutes Outside is a month-by-month collection of 365 easy and enjoyable ways to connect as a family and explore life outdoors drawn from the author’s own journey to get outside everyday.
How long have you been at work on this book?
How did the idea originate?
One bleak and cold day in January, while on a very fun walk with my kids outside, I wondered what it would be like to get outside every day, no matter the weather. And just like that, I made a New Year's resolution that I actually kept. Now, my family has an outdoor lifestyle, which to me means getting outside every day to improve your well being and the well being of your family.
Did the book entail any unusual writing habits or places?
I thought I would shut myself away from the world and write, but I didn't. I wrote it in between having a business and being a mom, which meant spurts of two hours here, two hours there. But my kids helped me a lot with fun brainstorming sessions on summer road trips and just by having fun outside at home. I completed my manuscript in three months! Luckily, the 365 ideas flowed very naturally from keeping notes and playing outside every day for a year!
