What is your book about? Please provide a description.
Samantha Granger is a small town girl who is obsessed with technology and has the latest and greatest cell phone that can do anything. But on her way home from her friend's house in Blue Lake, NY in the Adirondacks, she sees this strange glowing object in the woods that is not "of this world" and touches it, only to get zapped and knocked out cold. When she wakes up, she can't find her cell anywhere. She soon discovers she has turned into a walking, breathing piece of technology with internet capabilities. She has a GPS in her brain, camera in her eyes, and cell phone in her palm, giving new meaning to the words, "Talk to the hand!" Somehow she's tapped into a 911 line, and every time the cute boy she's been crushing on makes her hormones rise too high, she blocks a call. Her GPS reroutes her, sending her to the rescue whether she likes it or not. Digital Diva is born and a team of scientists are hot on her heels. Sam strives to keep her hormones under control and her identity a secret while she desperately tries to find a way to reverse her uniqueness.
How long have you been at work on this book?
I write very fast and was working on a few projects at once when this book sold in a 3 book deal on a partial to Rebecca Frazer at Sourcebooks. Then just 5 months later my agent sold my adult cozy mystery to Faith Black at Berkley Prime Crime in a 3 book deal off a partial as well. It usually only takes me a few months to finish a book depending on the length. I have since then finished book one (FUSED) and am almost finished with book two (FEARLESS) of the Samantha Granger Experiment.
How did the idea originate?
I have 4 children (3 boys and 1 girl from age 7 to 15) and they are all obsessed with technology in one form or another, but especially cell phones. It drives me crazy, so one day I told them if they didn't come up for air at least once in a while, they were going to turn into one of their gadgets...and then thought, hello, what a great idea! And Samantha Granger was born :-)
