What is your book about? Please provide a description.
It’s a laugh out loud gift book about the foibles of grand parenting. Its focus is on the kids in the middle and how we grandmas need to circumvent their rules and regulations. As someone once said (it could have been Erma!): Grandparents and grandchildren have a common enemy: the parents.
How long have you been at work on this book?
It took about a year
How did the idea originate?
I found my book voice when my son Michael found his father voice and I became a grandma for the first time. He acted like I didn’t know the first thing about parenting and he was the expert. Need I mention the fact that I raised him??? His behavior toward me in particular was very funny. So as is my writing style, I began to take notes, recording each incident and thus, my book was born. Then my friends became grandmas and their kids were treating them like morons, too. I added their anecdotes to mine and the book came to life.
Did the book entail any unusual writing habits or places?
I must confess of all my varied writing assignments throughout my career, this book was the most fun to work on and not that difficult to pull together. I think it’s because I take such copious notes before I write a word. It truly was a labor of love.
