Sonja Bolle, children's book reviewer for the Los Angeles Times, named Horrid Henry one of the best books of 2009 in her Word Play column, published on Sunday.

"For kids beginning to read independently, "Horrid Henry" by Francesca Simon and Tony Ross (Sourcebooks/Jabberwocky: $4.99 each, ages 4-9) arrived from England this year, importing sophisticated humor and a sly approach to storytelling. Not since "Nate the Great" has an early reader series created such a buzz."

REVIEW: Horrid Henry A Splendid Read

Posted by: Publicity on

A new review of Horrid Henry ran in the Green Bay Press-Gazette (cir. 71,000) on Sunday, August 9.

A quick, fun read, "Horrid Henry" is the first of Simon's series that both kids and parents will love to read together. Between memorable characters, humorous situations and subtle vocabulary building, I would recommend it to any young reader who loves to laugh while they learn.

The Savannah Morning News (cir. 44,000) posted a great review of the Horrid Henry series on Monday.

"Even the best-behaved kids love a little trouble now and then. And because they love reading about it, too, ‘Horrid Henry' is a great book to give them...Henry is the kind of kid every child wants to be: mischievous and slightly devious but not dangerously so, and with a down-deep desire to be a good kid in the end."
