Sourcebooks Turns 21

Posted by: Editorial on

September 30 marks the 21st anniversary of Sourcebooks' incorporation. What started as a home-based operation became a small press and eventually something much larger. Today our 70ish publishing professionals continually strive to bring the work of hundreds of authors to readers. It is, in short, ridiculously rewarding work.

Our thanks to everyone who's partnered with us over the years in so many ways, and most especially to our authors, who change lives for the better each and every day.

In Support of Banned Books Week

Posted by: Editorial on

Banned Books Week is September 29 through October 6. Though the idea of banning or challenging books seems downright prehistoric to most of us in the publishing business, it continues to occur, especially in libraries and schools, across the country. We urge you to check out your local bookstore or library for information and events in your area this week.

Visiting the Naperville home office of Sourcebooks this week were Ted Fiske and Bruce Hammond, authors of, among other things, the Fiske Guide to Colleges, Fiske Guide to Getting into the Right College, and Fiske Real College Essays That Work.

Ted and Bruce are among the world's leading experts on college reference, admissions, and high school guidance, so we had the opportunity to hear about some of the new things happening in these areas in advance of the annual NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling) conference next week.
