Associate Editor, Sourcebooks Casablanca

What I'm looking for:
Romances of all sub-genres (contemporary, erotic romance, romantic suspense, historical, paranormal), especially contemporary erotic romance and romantic suspense. I’m looking for characters who really grab me, strong writing, and a compelling emotional arc. Got a damaged hero? Send him my way. With erotic romance, I like edgy emotion tempered with humor or wit, unexpected moments of tenderness that make me tear up, and hot, blush-worthy, interesting sex that moves the relationship forward. Make me swoon and surprise me.

How I got into books:
My parents were total bookworms (my siblings and I are actually bookworms, not human…) I used to spend hours in the fiction stacks of the local library. When my family travelled when I was a kid (which was a lot), at least one major bookstore would be on the itinerary.

Some favorite books and authors I didn't publish:
The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell (gorgeous writing and mind-bending literary sci-fi). The Sharing Knife series and The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold (memorable and unique damaged heroes and effortless world-building). Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell (Love. This. Book. Fine writing, sweet romance, and unforgettable characters). Pretty much anything by Georgette Heyer, but if I really really had to pick just one, Venetia. Jane Austen—I read Persuasion about once a year.

I love my job because...
I get to read fabulous stories and converse with authors and agents. What’s not to love?

I keep my reading pile...
Sorted in teetering stacks in various locations. Each pile made a sort of sense when I started it…

Bookstores you should visit before you die:
Posman’s at Grand Central (best romance section in the city). City Lights in San Francisco. Housing Works used bookstore in NYC and the Oxfam bookstore in London.

When I'm not reading, I'll be...
Not practicing yoga. Catching up on movie-watching. Pawing through the library stacks. Visiting an animal sanctuary or walking outside

I follow reading, writing, and publishing news at:
Publishers Marketplace, RT Book Reviews, Night Owl Romance, Publishers Weekly
