Firefly and the Quest of the Black Squirrel

(The Fairy Chronicles)
by J.H.Sweet

About the Fairy Chronicles:
Magic surrounds us, though we can’t always see it. Gnomes add color to the plants in our gardens, doves deliver our good dreams, gremlins occasionally break our things and Mother Nature keeps the balance between the light and the dark. But just because you can’t see something doesn’t mean it can’t hurt you.

Luckily, Mother Nature has blessed some otherwise ordinary girls with an extraordinary gift: in addition to being girls, they have been granted a fairy spirit, each one as unique and beautiful as the girls themselves, each as wild and powerful as their counterparts in nature. Watch Dragonfly zoom by with the speed of her namesake, or witness Firefly use the incredible light that shines within her. Each fairy spirit is a powerful gift granting the girls who use them the ability to do amazing feats. But with power comes responsibility and the fairies might have the hardest of job of all: to protect Mother Nature and us, even though we don’t even know they existed. Until now...

About Firefly and the Quest of the Black Squirrel

Firefly, Grace, Beth and their new friend Vinca are all camping during spring break. During the middle of the trip, an emergency Fairy Circle is called. There is a guest at this Fairy Circle, a bewitched black squirrel, who has a terrible tale to tell.
It turns out that an evil Goblin has created a curse that, given enough time, will kill all the black squirrels in the world! But it gets worse! It is not any old curse, it is a Perfect Curse and if it is not stopped it will destroy a species a month until all critters on Earth are destroyed!
With this terrible news, the fairies spring into action. The fairy team is assembled and they are sent to discover the cure for the squirrels before the curse can spread.
To do so they must convince a Dwarf to divulge his greatest secret and then, if they succeed at that, they must go to a secret meadow where the Black Stag guards the magical Blue Clover. Only then, with the healing power of the clover, could they possibly save the Squirrels and, ultimately, all life on Earth

About Thistle and the Shell of Laughter

Grace, a Thistle fairy, is the one fairy who stands to lose the most when it is discovered that The Shell of Laugher has been stolen, so she is naturally chosen to be the leader of the group sent to recover it.
With the help of her fairy team, a leprechaun, an elf and a hedgehog that can’t stop laughing, Thistle begins to uncover clues that put her on the trail of the culprit.
Unfortunately, the clues lead her to the Trail of Sorrow, home to the decidedly evil, completely corrupt Spirit of Sorrow, Killjoy Crosspatch. Using all of the cunning, wits and courage that they can muster, the fairy team prepare to meet their most dangerous foe yet!

Praise for The Fairy Chronicles

What reviewers are saying:

“The best children's books teach without seeming to. J.H. Sweet's The Fairy Chronicles: Marigold and the Feather of Hope, can join the ranks of best books. Young girls band together to make the world a better place, and learn about teamwork, hope and intrinsic rewards. What could be better than that?”
—Keri Holmes, The Kaleidoscope: Our Focus is You

“This is the second venture of the publisher into children’s book. They make excellent content for reluctant readers, We rated this first book five hearts.”
—Bob Spear, Heartland Reviews

What kids are saying:

“This is a really cool book! Awesome! I loved the fairies, gremlins, and all the fun characters. Peanut is so cute and funny. I loved the way they all talked and I hope the author writes another one soon. Thank you, lady, for the cool book.”
—Heather, 10

“Firefly and the web of dreams had a lot of plot and really took me into the world of modern fairies. This book will really have an impact on kids who don’t believe in fairies. Thanks!!!” —Claire, 9

What parents are saying:

“I can't say enough good things about this book. I applaud this author for not following trends or getting stuck in a well-worn groove of tradition. This book is nothing like other children's fantasy books, which is what makes it so incredibly interesting. The Fairy Chronicles is a fresh take on the fairy world with more intricate elaborations on fairies, gnomes, brownies, and gremlins than I have read in any book, and I am a lifelong fairy enthusiast. It is a fairy tale, and a very good one, truly innovative.” —Molly Patrick
“The book seems to have a very positive outlook on life that includes teamwork and respect for one another and all life, even "earthworms". My kids were tremendously interested in this. I think this book is good for them as it puts forth good values.”
