The Accounting Associate will be responsible for:

Content Delivery

Associate Print Buyer – Project Manager

Sourcebooks, a leading, innovative, independent book publisher in the western suburbs of Chicago seeks an individual to join our Content Delivery department as an Associate Print Buyer. We are a rapidly growing company with a wide range of great books and energetic and creative employees.

The Associate Print Buyer will be responsible for:

  • Partnering with art and production teams to assess project requirements and develop cost effective solutions to design goals
  • Resolving quality and delivery issues with suppliers
  • Requesting and negotiating bids and schedules with suppliers
  • Managing pre-production issues and ensuring timely communication with vendors
  • Supporting additional purchasing functions for Sourcebooks, including non-book, display, digital and print-on-demand products
  • Producing best overall book package while maintaining delivery deadlines

The ideal candidate will:

Sourcebooks is looking for an outstanding Page Production Designer to join our production department in Naperville. The ideal candidate will possess a keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, a service-oriented attitude, and a strong design background.

The successful Page Production Designer will have a degree in a graphic design related field, extensive knowledge of InDesign and Creative Suite applications, and a minimum of 2 years' related experience. This position reports to the Production Manager and offers opportunities to grow and learn from a strong production team.

We require a degree in web design or a minimum of 2 years’ related experience as well as on-site availability in our Naperville office.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of digital book formats such as .ePub (International Digital Publishing Forum Open eBook standard), .prc/.mobi (for Amazon), PDF (Adobe's portable document format), etc.
  • Knowledge of e-Reader applications and devices such as Apple's iPad, Amazon's Kindle, Adobe Digital Editions, B&N's Nook, VitalSource, Sony Tablet, etc.
  • Knowledge of digital book creation software such as InDesign CS6's export to ePub, KindleGen, iBooks Author, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of html/xhtml structure and CSS coding.

Production Editor – Gift and Calendars

Sourcebooks, Inc., a leading book publisher located in the western suburbs of Chicago, seeks an outstanding individual to join our Content Delivery department as a production editor, working on our rapidly growing gift books and calendar lines. The ideal candidate for this job would have at least 2 years related experience in book or newspaper publishing, a strong attention to details, a passion for managing processes and schedules, and a creative streak suited to developing ideas into amazing books and product.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the creation of a variety of special gift titles and calendars from inception to completion by working hand-in-hand with Sourcebooks’ editorial and design teams.
  • Serve as the project coordinator/liaison on all titles in the gift and calendar space as well as provide support to the regionalized division.
  • Manage schedules defined by director of production
  • Develop and manage processes and schedules for manuscript development as needed
  • Manage workflow of gift books and calendars through the development process, hitting all scheduled benchmark dates or projecting new benchmarks as needed and alerting all team members to any delays
  • Work with the editorial, design, and production teams to develop high quality gift product and calendar content
  • Shepherd materials through the editorial department in preparation for production
  • Update schedules daily, marking tasks complete and update project status as needed.
  • Recruit and hire writers, artists, and other contributors as necessary, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating freelance contracts.
  • Develop manuscripts for content, structure, correctness, readability, and positioning, vet all books for accuracy and quality
  • With gift editor, position new product in the marketplace with respect to content, category, title, subtitle, physical packaging, design packaging, marketing copy, etc.

 Senior Shipping Clerk

Sourcebooks, a New York Times-bestselling book publisher, is seeking a full-time Customer Service Senior Shipping Clerk to join our Naperville office. This is a great opportunity for an independently motivated, customer-centric person with excellent organizational skills to contribute to a dynamic and growing company.

The Customer Service Senior Shipping Clerk will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the timely, accurate fulfillment of all outbound shipments from our Naperville office
  • Daily processing and delivery of all inbound mail and packages
  • Coordinating shipments to and from printers and other vendors
  • Overseeing all trade show shipments to ensure timely delivery and compliance with show regulations

We are looking for talented freelance book cover designers for the following categories:

  • Mass Market Romance Fiction
  • Adult Non-Fiction, trade paperback
  • Adult Fiction

Key Features / Deliverables for titles are:

  • Cover conception requires a minimum of three distinct covers.
  • Final delivery will include fully designed book covers (front cover, spine, back cover) in both application and PDF file formats ready for printer.
  • All source design files must be in InDesign and Adbobe CS5 applications in a Mac compatible formats.
  • All work is for hire, and all source files, including fonts, etc. are to be transferred for project to be complete.

This is a great opportunity for experienced book cover designers who demonstrate a great use of fonts. We expect to continually add books in the future and are looking to build a pool of talented designers in this area.
