Production Editor

The ideal candidate for this job would have at least 2 years related experience in book or newspaper publishing and have a passion for managing processes and schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage schedules defined by managing editor
  • Develop and manage processes and schedules for digital initiatives as needed

Design Manager - Publishing
Sourcebooks, Inc., a leading independent book publisher located in the western suburbs of Chicago, seeks an outstanding individual to join our design and creative services department in a management role. We are looking for a strong leader with a desire to grow our design team in an ever changing publishing landscape. This position requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a design field as well as some management experience, and will report to the director of production, working primarily on scheduling, workflow efficiencies, team supervision, and some art direction as required.

Project Management, Workflow, and Scheduling

  • Establish, maintain, and track cover process and schedules for 300 plus books a year
  • Assign cover projects through internal resources, determining resource needs throughout the year

Open immediately, we are looking for an outgoing, detail-oriented and creative person who loves books and wants to work in a fast paced, fun and friendly environment. This is a non-paying internship with flexible hours [15-30 a week]. You will be exposed to many aspects of book publishing. A few of the key responsibilities of this position include assisting with mailings to the gift and trade markets, updating sales databases and sales support for the gift and trade account managers. Must be energetic, enthusiastic and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.  A great opportunity for someone who wants to learn about book publishing.
