Accounts Payable Associate
Sourcebooks, Inc., a fast-growing, innovative, independent book publisher located in the western suburbs of Chicago, seeks a professional, energetic, detailed multi-tasker to join our accounting department.  This position requires a positive “take charge” individual – a self-starter who is flexible, organized, and able to move up to speed rapidly.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Receive, route, code, and enter all vendor invoices in a timely manner with 95% accuracy
  • Review all departmental invoice coding for accuracy; consult department managers on incomplete or inaccurate expense designations
  • Make journal entries as directed by Accountant or VP Finance
  • Monitor purchase order file and ensure timely closing of all POs
  • Mark weekly AP file and check journal for payment
  • Print and mail AP checks weekly
  • Handle vendor inquiries, research and resolve problem invoices, maximize vendor relationships
  • Set up and maintain organized accounts payable files
  • Negotiate favorable vendor payment terms
  • Review 1099 file and Issue 1099s annually
  • Prepare and file semi-annual VAT returns
  • Prepare special spending reports for departments, as needed
  • Receive, enter and monitor Rights contracts
  • Issue rights royalty service statements and follow up on delinquent payments
  • Provide back up support to general accountant and inventory accountant

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or 5+ years accounts payable experience (some cost accounting knowledge desirable)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly accurate and detail oriented
  • Good to excellent Excel skills
  • Ability to master accounting and reporting features of proprietary computer system

Key Features / Deliverables for titles are:

  • Cover conception requires a minimum of three distinct covers.

Design/Production

Sourcebooks, Inc., a leading book publisher located in the western suburbs of Chicago, seeks an outstanding individual to join our creative team as an art services manager. This is a newly created position that will provide project management and art development support to our children’s and gift book projects as well as digital initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Find, develop and manage illustrators and orchestrate content of and timely flow of illustrations to editors and to content delivery group
  • Set and maintain art budgets for each project
  • Conduct illustrator contract negotiation for acquired titles
