Any message to your readers?
Dear Readers, I'm glad you found my author page at Sourcebooks. I'm committed to helping children with bipolar disorder and the adults who care for them. As a parent of two children with this illness, I understand the endless questions involved in each stage of caring for these unique individuals, from the confusion of initial diagnosis, to dealing with school and parenting during various stages of the illness. It is my hope that The Childhood Bipolar Disorder Answer Book will address your important questions and give you valuable tools to help you on this journey. The book was co-authored with Dr. Sheryl Hakala. I was honored to write with one of the professionals who had skillfully used her experience in treating my own children.

What is your book about? Please provide a description.
The Childhood Bipolar Disorder Answer Book is a unique, straightforward, no-nonsense guide to helping parents of children with bipolar disorder. It is written in a Q & A style by a parent/doctor team to address the really tough questions that parents will face when they have a child with bipolar disorder.
How long have you been at work on this book?
This project began in the spring of 2007 and was released in August 2008.
How did the idea originate?
The idea sprung from the need to have a parent friendly book which is easy to understand and yet addresses the serious issues regarding bipolar disorder in children.
Did the book entail any unusual writing habits or places?
Not really… Most of it has been done here at my Florida home. I did take the manuscript with me on vacation to Georgia and wrote in the car while we traveled. Dr. Hakala and I toss the manuscript back and forth until we are both mutually satisfied with the answers given.
