"The Heir," is the tale of Gayle Windham, a second son reluctantly stepping into the role of heir to his father's dukedom. Gayle must repair the family finances while thwarting his father's schemes to see him wedded, and seeks the privacy and consolation of his own household to do it--only to find his own housekeeper has caught his interest.
How long have you been at work on this book?
I wrote this book over the summer of 2007.
How did the idea originate?
"The Heir" is a sequel to a previous book, "The Proper Peer," in which Gayle was a secondary character who agreed to wed a lady in exchange for being given the reins to the family finances. Unbeknownst to Gail, the lady wasn't exactly willing... but that's another tale.
Did the book entail any unusual writing habits or places?
I write in the kitchen of my old farmhouse, which can be stiflingly, infernally hot, just like the opening of the book.
