"Elite Force" series Book 1: COVER ME For Air Force pararescueman Wade Rocha, fast roping from the back of a helicopter into a blizzard is all in a day’s work. Assigned to save mountain climbers stranded on an Aleutian Island, the last thing he expects is a reluctant victim. Smoking-hot gym owner Sunny Foster can take care of herself just fine. After all, she has lived in a nearby off-the-grid community with her family since her teens. However, when the snowstorm kicks into overdrive, the military helicopter must leave Sunny and Wade behind to hunker down in a cave. Before their clothes dry by the fire, desire sparks, singeing them both more than any flames. Reality intrudes when they discover murdered bodies frozen under the ice, people who had supposedly been allowed to leave Sunny’s remote community. Why were departing members being targeted? An especially unsettling discovery given her sister is days away from being granted release. Back in civilization, Sunny is unable to trust the shady police force with her suspicions, given their ties to the self-sustaining community. She has no choice but to turn to uncompromisingly honorable Wade and his specialized training to infiltrate the group and extricate her sister. While drawn to Sunny, Wade’s skepticism about the community leads him to uncover a plot to detonate a bomb inside an Alaskan power plant. With the local cops and international terrorists now on their trail, Sunny and Wade take to the frozen wilderness in a race against time… and their explosive passions.
How long have you been at work on this book?
Four months.
How did the idea originate?
My husband is an Air Force veteran. Since he first mentioned a pararescue buddy of his, I've been fascinted by the pararescueman (PJ) motto, "That Others May Live." Hearing about Mt. McKinley rescues solidied where I would set the first PJ book!
Did the book entail any unusual writing habits or places?
Alaska setting - Aleutian Islands, once coined by Russians as "The Land That God Forgot."
