Welcome to the future! The future of humanity and the future of publishing.
I am very excited about my new book Entering the Shift Age and the new model of publishing Sourcebooks has created, the Agile Publishing Model (APM). The APM is an innovative platform that allows authors to make their content available faster and in a more flexible format. For example, to suit your needs and interests as readers, Sourcebooks offers a variety of ways to purchase the content of Entering the Shift Age, either in individual parts (“mini eBooks”) or as a whole. (Check out “How to Purchase: The Agile Way”.) You can learn more about the APM by watching the video below.
This is part of the future of publishing. Now let’s turn toward our own future, the future of humanity.
We now live in the Shift Age, a time of transformation that will be regarded by future historians as one of the most significant periods in human history. The Shift Age is one of those inflection points or times when much of humanity will change how we live, how we think, how we interact with each other and what we do.
Neurosphere is a new concept of place that is “no-place.” It is simply the synaptic, pulsating, ever expanding cloud cyberspace.
The potential power of an idea therefore, has never been greater in terms of the speed and magnitude of influence. Ideas do not control people, they influence people and thought. True, people can use ideas to control people, but that is infinitely more difficult if people have access to sources outside those trying to exert control.
So an “idea whose time has come” can now move as a meme.
The flow to Influence Power from Control Power is clear. Just think back on all the forces supporting this irresistible force:
In the Shift Age, freedom lies not just in power of the people or for the people—it is that people can now have ideas that immediately empower them. Individual empowerment is a significant barrier to Control Power but a huge amplifier to Influence Power.
Control Power will always exist. The human ego, to some degree, operates on Control Power. It leads to control our sense of self and usually to control others, actively or passively. Separateness is an underlying part of the perception of self. As individual and separate selves, or individual and separate nations, or religions, we intuitively and reflexively fall back into the construct of Control Power versus the other self or entity. That said, Influence Power is moving toward dominance in the Shift Age.
