Welcome to the future! The future of humanity and the future of publishing. I am very excited about my new book Entering the Shift Age and the new model of publishing Sourcebooks has created, the Agile Publishing Model (APM). The APM is an innovative platform that allows authors to make their content available faster and in a more flexible format. For example, to suit your needs and interests as readers, Sourcebooks offers a variety of ways to purchase the content of Entering the Shift Age, either in individual parts (“mini eBooks”) or as a whole. (Check out “How to Purchase: The Agile Way”.) You can learn more about the APM by watching the video below. This is part of the future of publishing. Now let’s turn toward our own future, the future of humanity. |

We now live in the Shift Age, a time of transformation that will be regarded by future historians as one of the most significant periods in human history. The Shift Age is one of those inflection points or times when much of humanity will change how we live, how we think, how we interact with each other and what we do. |
||
What is The Shift Age? The Shift Age is the age we now live in. While we commonly refer to today as the Information Age, the truth is that we have actually left the Information Age behind, and have entered the Shift Age.
In fact, this is why everything has felt so disruptive and different in recent years. In the five years since I wrote the book The Shift Age, we have been in the midst a reorganizational recession between two ages. Transitions to new ages are always disruptive. But if you understand why this is taking place, and the key components of the new Shift Age, you can see the opportunity beyond the disruption.
The Shift Age has three flows that are reshaping humanity now and for at least the next ten to fifteen years.
The first flow is the Flow to Global. We are getting organized around the global economy, the macro-macro. There is no bigger economic unit than all of us. We have entered the global stage of human evolution.
The second flow is the Flow to the Individual. In the last 30 years there has been an explosion of choice. This means that power has flowed from the producer to the consumer, from the institution to the individuals. We as individuals have more power than at any time in history. So we are also getting organized around the micro-micro. There is no smaller economic unit than each of us.
The third flow is the Accelerating Electronic Connectedness of humanity. This flow has not only amplified the first two flows, it is perhaps the most powerful force in the world today. We are getting ever more connected at an accelerated rate. As a result, content is created at an ever more rapid rate. It’s taking different forms, and this Agile Publishing Model is one of those new forms.
This Agile Publishing Model, created with Sourcebooks, is one of the many new forms of publishing that will become ascendant in the Shift Age. Speed to market, along with electronic collaboration with readers and thinkers during the creative writing process, will birth new forms of content that will dynamically redefine what a book is and how it comes to market.
We begin it here. So join in, participate, and help us shape and define this new form of publishing. Welcome to Shift Age publishing.

Please do it in a larger font.
Part of the reality of the Shift Age is that for the first time in our history, half of the population in the U.S. is 50 and older.
Small print isn't inviting in the way you want to be.
Thanks. Have your best time. Marilynn
