Marketing Manager
Sourcebooks, a leading independent publisher, is seeking a MARKETING MANAGER to join a fast-paced, results-oriented sales and marketing team. This position is responsible for enhancing the company’s sales and publicity efforts through:

  • Direct marketing
  • B2B marketing including trade show strategy and execution, catalogs and sales presentation design, and customer engagement strategies
  • Management of internal design resources
  • Maintaining awareness of campaign aspects and optimizing multiple promotional streams from various departments for maximum effectiveness

Digital Marketing Specialist
Sourcebooks, Inc. a suburban Illinois book publishing company, seeks a Marketing Specialist for our digital and web initiatives. This key member of the marketing team will help drive the growth of our online presence in both B2B and B2C sales channels.
The right candidate also needs strong interpersonal skills to work well with our Sales, Public Relations, and IT teams, in addition to interacting effectively with our customers and vendor partners.
Key Responsibilities include:

  • Web
    • Web Marketing – Where the category includes a dedicated web site, project specialist is responsible for creating the marketing program for said site including, but not limited to:
      • Google adwords
      • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
      • Email marketing campaigns
      • Affiliate marketing
    • Community Building – Project specialist is responsible for creating a community around the category including, but not limited to:
      • creating and/or managing content for the community
      • recruiting and managing content contributors (e.g., authors, bloggers, poets)
      • working with publicity and other marketers on offline events that can drive digital activity
    • Monitors, tracks and reports on Web industry issues, trends and events. Ensures the business online efforts are achieving desired objectives with target user groups.

  • Mobile Applications
    • Marketing – Where the category includes mobile applications, project specialist is responsible for marketing applications
  • Partner Management

Must Haves: B.A or B.S. degree with 2-4 years of experience a plus. Experience with email marketing, SEO, adwords. Experience with data analysis, tracking conversion rates, analyzing web traffic, keywords, etc. Comfortable with identifying key trends, areas for improvement (via KPIs) and utilizing MS Excel for analysis. Knowledge of Google analytics, Webtrends, pixel tracking. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a variable environment. Experience with Content Management System, Joomla!, a plus. Must possess excellent communication and people skills, even under pressure, and needs to be a true hands-on person with a ‘can-do’ attitude, and willingness and ability to ‘make things happen’.

This position is responsible for influencing and meeting overall revenue and strategic goals for mass market accounts including mass merchants, wholesale clubs, and related distributors, as well as opening new customers within a broad definition of mass market.  In addition to these responsibilities, this position oversees all Sourcebooks efforts in the corporate market, including strategy development, sales force management, and national account presentations.

Freelance Cover Design
Sourcebooks, Inc. is a fast-growing, innovative, independent book publisher located in the western suburbs of Chicago. We currently publish over 300 new books per year and are expanding our freelance cover design resources.

We are looking for talented freelance book cover designers for the following categories:

  • Mass Market Romance Fiction
  • Adult Non-Fiction, trade paperback
  • Adult Fiction

Key Features / Deliverables for titles are:

  • Cover conception requires a minimum of three distinct covers.
  • Final delivery will include fully designed book covers (front cover, spine, back cover) in both application and PDF file formats ready for printer.
  • All source design files must be in InDesign and Adbobe CS3 applications in a Mac compatible formats.
  • All work is for hire, and all source files, including fonts, etc. are to be transferred for project to be complete.

This is a great opportunity for experienced book cover designers who demonstrate a great use of fonts. We expect to continually add books in the future and are looking to build a pool of talented designers in this area.

Sourcebooks, Inc. is looking for an intern to join the customer service department. If you love books and are interested in book publishing, working for a New York Times-bestselling book publisher in Naperville is the perfect way to get involved in the business. The customer service intern will enter customer orders and returns, provide assistance to the other customer service representatives on special projects, and help out in the shipping room when needed. The right candidate must be computer literate with data entry skills. Bookstore experience is a plus but is not required. This is a non-paying internship with flexible hours (10-20 hrs/week). Editorial

Editorial Proofreading Intern Non-Paid
Sourcebooks, Inc., a leading book publisher located in the western suburbs of Chicago, seeks an outstanding individual to intern as part of our Copyediting and Proofreading department.  This position will support the senior managing editor and four production editors for approximately 20 hours a week.  This position does not require all time to be spent on site, but would be expected on site at least 1 day a week.

  • Primary responsibility will be to provide proofreading support on assigned titles
  • Quality check for page corrections as they are returned from production, including first page checks prior to proofreading and supporting production editors on final checks of pages before closing to manufacturing
  • Other duties as assigned by managing editor

Requirements

  • Attention to detail; ability to take direction and follow through
  • Detail- and deadline-oriented across multiple projects simultaneously
  •  Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Primary responsibility willbe to provide design and production support
  • Prepare ARC covers for routing, closing to printer
  • Route and incorporate editorial changes to ARC/finalcovers
  • Set up final covers for manufacturing, includingpreflighting final files
  • Image research as requested
  • Some design work to create final covers as assigned
  • Create archive of production copies for department
  • Assist in production editorial changes
